Many people who own dogs require helpful information on taking good care of their dog, notably if you are a new dog owner.
It usually is pretty frustrating if you don’t know where to start in teaching your dog the fundamentals. You and
your dog need to get to understand each other and expectations of each other. Your pet should realize that he
will have to give you a signal when he has to go outside for a pee, and you’ll in time get to know his
signal and respond immediately.
We’re very fortunate to have 2 loving and smart dogs in our home, one is a small Poodle and the other is
older mixed breed-German Shepherd/Golden Lab. Both these dogs have acquired some awesome knowledge about
us over the years and they are naturally gentle and smart dogs who’re a joy to have in the home with us.
If you speak to your dogs regularly, they respond to you and also they seem to know what you are talking
about. I had asked Rex- the older dog to get me a beer from the fridge, he knew what I wanted as he
headed towards the fridge but he couldn’t open the door. This is only an example, I wouldn’t expect him to
really do this for me, but I just wanted to demonstrate to my friends that dogs do understand their owners.
Dogs will protect your family if they have to, I don’t suggest that you teach your family dog violent
habits, it is natural tendency for them to protect you as their master and friend. Rex had always been
my son’s lifeguard at the shore, he would stop him from going any further into the water if he felt it was going
to endanger him.
Should you be just starting out to train your dog, you need to be aware that you will need patience and time with
them, for us to learn anything, it will take time as well. We’re creatures of habit and we learn through
repitition and observing. Most habits we have, we’d learned from our parents. Whether it was through
a loving observation also as an actual teaching, this is how we’ve become who we are today. The same goes with
bad habits and bad family teachings or no teachings at all- that is what we learn which is the same for
your pets.
So knowing that you’ve got a responsibility to the pets and taking that seriously is an understanding that
all pet owners ought to have before even considering taking a dog into your home.
I have developed this blog to help you find the best resources for helping you to train your dog properly.
Please share any tips or stories in this blog or supply comments if you like.
