Teachers Union and Washoe County School officlals fire criticism at Governor Gibbons for his continue mantra of “No New Taxes.”

Saying that proposed cuts of up to 22% would severely crippled Nevada K-12 education, the President of the Nevada Education Association said today that not raising taxes is not an option, as far as she’s concerned. City Supervisors write off over a half-million in uncollectible bills to the city

Ever wonder why ambulance rates are so…shall we say…substantial? Well, here’s part of it. The Supervisors today were told that after trying to collect on old ambulance bills and even resorting to collection services, the city is sitting on $531,000 in unpaid rides to the hospital. City Supervisors approve big new water pipeline to help fix the town’s arsenic and uranium problem

For many years, westside wells have suffered from naturally occurring contamination from uranium and arsenic. It comes with the territory. And for years, rather than expensive water treatments, utility workers have blended these waters with good water from other wells around town. In a continued effort to stem the state budget’s free fall, Governor Gibbons is recommending the long talked about closure of the state’s oldest prison, Nevada State Prison.
