Four year old boy rushed to CTRMC from Hot Springs Road apartment dies

A tragic end to a valiant fight to save the life of little four year old Jacob who fell ill at his Hot Springs Road apartment Thursday. Jacob died at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center from an as yet unreleased cause.

Jacob leaves his mom and grandmother to grieve his death. He was reported feeling weak and tired Thursday afternoon. His grandmother sent him to bed for a nap. Ten minutes later she walked into the bedroom to find little Jacob slumped on the bed, not breathing. Paramedics were called and alert Sheriff’s Deputies who were nearby raced to the apartment at 651 Hot Springs. The two deputies ran up the stairs and immediately began performing team CPR on the boy.

They revived him, but he never fully regained consciousness. After an intensive fight to save his life, Jacob sadly slipped away Friday. Again, no cause of death yet released. However it was believed that Jacob had dealt with “medical issues” during his short life.

A donation campaign for his mother and what will likely be crushing medical bills and burial costs will be launched soon. NewsCarsonCity.com will relay donation information as soon as family friends release it.

Editorial: Why spend $50 million on the “last library?”

There’s nothing worse than being the last soldier shot in a war. Likewise, there’s nothing worse than Carson City taxpayers spending millions on the “last library.” Face it, things change. The horse replaced the foot soldier. The car replaced the horse. And in many urban countries around the world, high speed rail is replacing airplanes, buses, and slow-moving trains. Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki: I can beat Senator Harry Reid!

Lt. Governor Brian Krolicki says coming off a hard battle with the Nevada Attorney General over charges that were dropped, has made him ready to take on incumbent U.S. Senator Harry Reid. However, Krolicki has not made it official but hinted strongly this week that his announcement will come soon.

Krolicki also said the American public is tired of “dark side” politics. He said “I am going to talk about issues.”
He said he’ll make a decision whether to run for Reid’s Senate seat in a few weeks after he determines how much money he’ll need to mount a successful campaign. Reid is amassing a campaign warchest amounting to something around $15,000,000 so far.

Sprint outage in No. NV caused by Reno cell tower snafu

Sprint says customers around Northern Nevada all the way down to San Diego suffered a partial outage of their cell phones this afternoon. They say the outage began at 1:53pm Friday and was finally repaired around 6pm. Phone users heard re-routes to Verizon which would handle the call but for a very high roaming fee. Others heard their voice mail calls end up with “all circuits are busy” messages. Some local calls were not working, but those slightly farther away connected, although noisily. But the connection at least worked. Dropped calls were common.

Sprint said the problem was traced to what’s called a CDMA cell site in the Reno area. Again, service was back to normal by 6m.

Monday, no insurance, no registration at DMV

Drivers registering their vehicle at the State Department of Motor Vehicles must proof of insurance on them. The DMV’s new system captures insurance information, and by internet, verifies with the listed insurance company the driver does in fact have insurance.

The only hole in the deal is that those who renew their registration, license plate changes done on the web or at a DMV kiosk won’t have to show their insurance card. State officials say the software that makes such validation work has been delayed.
