Opening day for election filing in Nevada. Most of the pre-announced candidates for Carson City Mayor made it down to the courthouse today. No real surprises…yet.

Governor Gibbons has gotten what he wanted from Judge Bill Maddox…Judge Maddox ruling that if the governor wants his divorce case close to the public, so be it. It’s in state law. However, Judge Maddox said that any court orders or decisions he makes in the case will eventually become public record. But for now, only family and attornies will be allowed in the courtroom. No public, no news media.

A very unusual grand opening for a long-lived bakery in east Carson City over the weekend. A new look and a huge rise in the quality and variety of bakery products. A “must munch” experience for all Carson residents.

The Dominique Oxoby family was honored over the weekend at Governor’s Field, field #6 being transformed into the Dominique Oxoby Memorial Field in honor of Mr. Oxoby’s many years of volunteer service to youth sports in the community.

The Western Nevada College Wildcats convincingly put away Eastern Utah over the weekend, but because the College of Southern Nevada won both their games in Idaho, the league championship is yet to be decided.
